Created by former Beatle Pete Best and his brother Roag Aspinall Best*, the museum features hundreds of intimate items from Pete’s time with the band and also from Roag’s father’s (Neil Aspinall the Beatles road manager and Head of Apple) collection.

One of the latest displays to go up in the museum is the Beatles in Comics section, which focuses on the thousands of appearances the Beatles made in comic strips and newspaper and magazine cartoons from January 1963 to the present day.

Roag has curated this section with the help of former Marvel Comics editor Tim Quinn who says, “It’s quite amazing how many times the band appeared in comic strips and cartoons from as early as January 1963. We even feature their very latest appearance in comic form which is from a Doctor Who comic strip that will be published later this year to celebrate Doctor Who’s 60th anniversary.”

“In the strip, the Doctor encounters the Beatles on 22nd November 1963. A very historic date.”

The Liverpool Beatles Museum is situated on Mathew Street, a few yards from the Cavern Club, Liverpool.
