Even Basil reads the Beat

Ian Woolley

That legendary puppet Basil Brush took time out from panto to talk to us about his new charity single…

Since bursting onto our screens way back in 1962, this TV favourite has regularly trod the boards every Christmas in panto and this year is no exception. In his eighth year at the Theatre Royal in Windsor, he took time out to read our latest issue of the Beat and chat with Ian Woolley about his long career but mainly to plug his new record we fear!

Basil’s new charity single

Helping to raise funds for Shooting Star Children’s Hospices charity, this rock number has the DJ Mike Read on board. Called ‘I’m Gonna Dream This Christmas That It’s 1979’, it name-checks many well-known bands from that year. We are not going to tell you which ones as we hope you’ll download it and help raise some much-needed cash for the charity.

If you’d like to listen to Ian’s ‘marvelous’ (there’s a clue there..Boom! Boom!) interview with Basil, click on the WoolleysBeat link at the top of our website.
