Razorblade Dress by Michael Schmidt
Harry has always made a mark on the fashion industry; she used everyday materials to develop a unique and magnificent piece. In 1999, she wore the memorable razor blade dress to the Q Awards, captioned as “fashion should always be a little dangerous” now a part of Metropolitan Museum of Art’s “Rock Style” exhibit. The gown was made up of 3,000 blunted double-edged razor blades, designed by NYC-based jewelry and clothing designer Michael Schmidt.

As the years passed, harry’s iconic looks were not only caught on camera by photographers like Annie Leibovitz, Bob Gruen, and not to forget her band partner Chris Stein and others. One of those iconic pictures shows Harry posing in front of a zebra-patterned wall wearing a matching zebra minidress. Harry wrote about the dress ‘it was not a casual piece of cloth but a pillow cover’, she found from the trash, and later she transformed it into a dress, and this photograph was famously printed in Creem magazine.
“Heart of Glass” Video
Harry and her boyfriend Stephan Sprouse, an emerging designer in the 70s, who also worked as a design assistant at Halston, whipped up some of Harry’s most memorable looks, including “Heart of Glass,” she wore for Blondie’s 1979 hit music video. The dress was customised from television pixels transposed onto asymmetrical fabric pieces, so when Harry moved around, the garment floated around her.
2017 London Fashion Week
During London Fashion Week in 2017, Harry was spotted walking beside two models wearing hoodies illuminated with the words “Stop F*****g the earth.” This, however, wasn’t the primary time that Harry has expressed herself regarding important social, economic, and environmental issues.

In 1981, on Valentine’s Eve, Harry appeared to perform with other show stars on Saturday Night Live, when she wore a sequined and beaded outfit that hung the line between cowgirl and Victorian princess.
